CPC Book Club next meeting is scheduled for Sunday January 12, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m in the Allan Room. Under the leadership of Colleen and Larry Kurtz, the CPC Book Club will meet to review and discuss The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver. The Lacuna is a poignant story of a man pulled between two nations as they invent their modern identities. Everyone is most welcome — even those who haven’t finished or even started the book — for an engaging review and discussion. Kingsolver’s often zany look at the gap between the reality of world and American politics, and the perception of that reality by the media, politicians, and the public, is now more than ever a pressing concern for our time!!! And it’s all told against a backdrop that starts in Washington, shifts to Mexico, then Asheville N.C., Washington again, and finally ends in Mexico; and on the way, the supporting cast of characters includes Frieda Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, and the infamous Senator Joseph McCarthy among others.
